Freetrailer Won the "Growth Story of the Year" Ivækst Prize!

Freetrailer, the company behind the free trailers at IKEA, Bilka and several other places, was chosen on Tuesday 9 December as the winner of the "Growth Story of the Year" Ivækst prize. The competition was based on voting for one of five companies selected within six categories.

"We are obviously happy to get recognition for our efforts in the past four years but what matters most if that it was a public vote, where anyone could go in and vote. There must therefore be a good number of our trailer customers who are happy with our trailers and our service," says Freetrailer's Director, Allan Sønderskov Darré.

Freetrailer was put up for the prize by a group of experts that Ivækst, Denmark's largest business portal, had appointed.

It came a little bit as a suprise to Allan Sønderskov Darré that they won the prize.

"We work in a very traditional industry, the rental industry, in a non-traditional way as we can rent out trailers for free. I think that we got so many votes because we found a niche and a concept that allows us to offer something useful and free," says Allan Sønderskov Darré.

Freetrailer was set up in 2003-2004 and has since grown organically particularly through major agreements with IKEA and Blika, so there are now over 250 trailers on Danish roads. The goal is to have 500 trailers in Denmark. Freetrailer has started to offer trailers in Sweden at the IKEA in Kalmar and they expect to have a least 10 pick-up locations in Sweden.
